Considering leaving yachting?
Many people seek out coaches for guidance in navigating a significant life change, such as taking on a new career. In plenty of cases, however, people turn to coaches simply for help in building a happier, more meaningful life.
One of the main benefits of working with a coach is the ability to gain a fresh, informed perspective on problems that you may face. In addition to offering new insight into challenges, a coach can help you to zero in on negative patterns that could be standing in the way of your success.
Many people view working with a coach as a means of bridging the gap between your current circumstances and the life you’d like to lead.
With nearly a decade of experience working on superyachts, and navigating the move ashore, I am now working as a career transitional coach & mentor to ensure that any crew wanting to leave the industry have the option of a helping hand to discuss goals, hone in on their skills and find a fulfilling shore based career path.
Leaving behind a career on yachts, means leaving behind the travel, the parties, the high end environment, the crazy experiences and the income that gives you a great deal of financial freedom. It’s a huge adjustment to make, moving from not even looking at prices at the supermarket, to potentially being unemployed for a few months. Unless you know exactly which sector to go into, and if you’ve been in yachting for a few years, it’s really tricky to adjust to home life living. Many yacht crew leave, only to come back into the industry a few months later.
Together we can focus on your skillset, your goals, your values and your passions to find a career path that suits you.
I’m also here to help with any other factors involved in leaving the industry. This could be relationships, friendships, finances, a new location, how to interview for a land based job & anything else on your mind.

Your Coach
Amelia Hilton Pierce
After completing my BSc in Psychology (counselling) at the age of 20, I went into the yachting industry thinking it would only be a couple of years. I transitioned out of the industry at the age of 29, moved to a new city and found my feet on land. I have a passion for helping people establish goals and make that transition as smooth as possible in all departments. Psychology is something I've always been interested in, and I found my match when I found out about coaching! From making friends, to finding the dream career, if transitioning ashore if something you want - I can help you!

My career coaching sessions with Amelia have been invaluable and have made such a positive impact on my life. I had an interest in being career coached but did not know what to expect. From the first meeting with Amelia, she was kind, welcoming, supportive and attentive. She was able to listen carefully, identify key aspects of my goals, she was a fantastic sounding board and I felt comfortable to talk to her and to tell her job/career ideas that I had felt were too silly to say out loud. Whilst creating a safe and nurturing environment, Amelia also had a great ability to hold me accountable for my goals and to set realistic expectations. I do not think the label 'career coaching' does it justice, as it affected all aspects of my life positively.
I have finished my career coaching sessions with Amelia now. I have a self-developed clear 10-year career plan, that carefully balances my career, my personal development and my lovely family. I am excited for what lies ahead, and I happen to be starting my new job next week that fits perfectly into my plan.
I really recommend career coaching with Amelia to anyone - whether one wants to change jobs, have greater purpose, fulfilment, change work/family life dynamics or wants to take a new direction in life and feels under confident.
I am very grateful to Amelia who has supported me and helped me create space in my busy life to consider my own purpose. Thank you, Amelia.
